iPhone

The mobile browser on the iPhone is rather excellent and I recently discovered that you can use the orientation of the iPhone (or iPod Touch) to change the way web pages are displayed. My inital thoughts were to create a photo gallery. When held in landscape it displays landscape photos and therefore when held in portrait mode it displays portait photos.

Anyway, I quickly set up a little test page. The code is very rough but it confirms the principle.  I aim to develop it in the near future.

If you have a iPod touch or iPhone then touch the iPod below to see an example gallery. NB this will not work in other browsers.

Remember you can  have your favicon equivalent for iPhone home screen by simply having a 60×60 pixel png called “apple-touch-icon.png” in the root of your webserver. Whilst im talking about iPhones I would recommend that you have a look at IUI by Joe Hewitt .
